Speaking in the "binocular"

A few years ago when I was still working as part of the management team in a call center, I heard one of the agents shout, "TL (team lead), he is speaking in the binocular again!" It became one of the iconic moments on the operations floor. Later on, that same agent tendered his resignation and when we asked why, he said he wanted to pursue his teaching profession. We teased him about it because he confuses words, like "binocular" instead of "vernacular." Even so, he was one of the consistent top QA performers on the team.
He is now happily and confidently teaching in secondary education. Mind you, he is successful and well-loved by his students. He is making his own mark and climbing up the ladder of success in his chosen field. He has such a vibrant personality that he brightens up my day every time I see his feed on my FB wall.
For Virtual Assistants, it is important to evaluate your work as if under the lens of a binocular: scrutinize the content before sending that email to a client or sharing an idea with a customer, responding to your employer, or sending a text message to a team member. Does it make sense? Is it relevant? Does it have an acceptable language or tone? If you are constantly creating content or writing emails, I recommend that you install Grammarly as a browser extension. You will find it extremely useful. It's an app that will make sure that you have accurate spelling, punctuation, and grammar in your messages. It will help you not sound like you are "speaking in the binocular." 😉
